ADVENTURE CAMP OVERVIEW

Held at five area YMCA branches – our Adventure Camps are meant for campers who want to spend time with friends sharing fun, crafts, activities, games, swimming, games, guest speakers, and day trips. Every week has a different theme and local field trip to ensure returning campers a fresh and exciting experience. Like with all of our camps – breakfast and healthy, afternoon snacks are included in weekly rates. 

  • LOCATIONS Greater Wichita YMCA Branches (Andover, East, El Dorado, Northwest, and South)
  • WEEKS - 1-11 (Not all locations offer Week 11 - see enrollment for details)
  • TIMES 6:30AM-6PM (limit 10 hours/camper/day)
  • AGES 5 (with completion of Kindergarten) - 12
  • COSTS
    • $15/Camper ENROLLMENT FEE (charged once per camper - includes Camp T-Shirt)
    • $15/Camper/Week DEPOSIT due at enrollment. See Camp Policies for payment policies.
    • $125/Camper/Week for Children on Greater Wichita YMCA Family Memberships
    • $145/Camper/Week for Community Participants (Non-Members)

  • OVERVIEW Camp splits into teams to compete in wild/wacky games. Show camp spirit thru team flag/banners, minute to win it games, jello contests, Ding Dong baseball, and wacky relays. Campers should bring t-shirts for tie-dye.

  • OVERVIEW Summer fun is at its best just playing, having fun, and barbecuing outside. Our Adventure Camps are heading out to Camp Hyde to experience that side of our programs and for the kinds of outdoor fun that can’t be had at branches. Campers will end the week with games and a barbecue with people they care about (families welcome).

  • OVERVIEW While we should always respect the power of water, that doesn’t mean that we can’t also have fun and cool off with the stuff. We’ll spend the whole week wet as we play in, around, and with water including special games and activities, crafts, and adventures. Campers will end the week better-understanding and respecting water safety and enjoyment.

  • OVERVIEW Do you believe in magic? Do you believe you’re magical? At Y camps everyone is. We’ll take a break from the real world and embrace sorcery and spells during our Harry Potter-inspired week “at” Hogwart’s. Magic and fellowship will guide our activities, crafts, and outings. Campers will learn to appreciate our differences as what make us special.

  • OVERVIEW There are people that just seem “gifted” – everything they do seems important. A discovery and nurturing of that talent inside each of us comes to camp for a week of practice, exploration, and performance as we try our hands at several types of performance art. Campers will discover the importance of knowing, sharing, and appreciating all forms of talent.
  • ACTIVITIES Quidditch, wand making, managing mischief/the Whomping Willow, and magic potions 
  • WACKY WEDNESDAY Face Paint – Choose your own colorful mask
  • FIELD TRIP Robert Shyrock “Castle” Park (Augusta, Kansas)
WEEK 9 - MON. JULY 20 - FRI. JULY 24
  • THEME GLOBETROTTING
  • CORE VALUE Honesty
  • OVERVIEW We'll punch camper passports on this virtual trip around the world exploring different customs and cultures including foods, dances, and games. Campers will spend time on Egyptian Art, Australian Kickball, and a host of other regional games and experiences as well as "time travel" back to the early days of Kansas and the Flint Hills to appreciate our own traditions. 
  • ACTIVITIES Games, exploration, cooking, arts and crafts, storytelling

  • THEME IT’S ALL WEIRD SCIENCE

  • OVERVIEW Science is all around us and can inspire and challenge us – if we just pay attention to it. We’ll resume our summer series with an exploration of and appreciation for the small and nearby and the big and infinite through a variety of activities and experiments based on science. Campers can experience the size, scope, and influence of science in our world. 
  • ACTIVITIES Making slime and paper mache volcanoes, and exploring the solar system
  • WACKY WEDNESDAY Backward Day – Wear your clothes backward
  • FIELD TRIP Exploration Place
WEEK 11 - MON. AUGUST 3 - THURS. AUGUST 6
  • THEME CALLING ALL HEROES
  • CORE VALUE Caring
  • OVERVIEW Comic books, super heroes, and adventures have taken over the movie screen and our camps. We’ll end our summer series with true adventure. Discover your inner-hero by participating in games and activities, arts and crafts, and day trips that ensure “good” triumphs over “evil”. Campers will experience the importance of caring as motivation for our heroes – like us. 
  • ACTIVITIES Code Breaking, Water Wars, Scavenger Hunts, “Fighting” Evil
  • WACKY WEDNESDAY Capes and Suits – Dress as your favorite super hero
  • FIELD TRIP Nearby Splash Parks (Locations Vary)

Visit any of our branch locations (after completed KDHE forms) or use the tiles below to enroll in a Greater Wichita YMCA Adventure Camp. The process is simple:

  1. Create (or log-in to) a WEBSITE ACCOUNT (Y membership is not required).
  2. Complete REQUIRED KDHE forms online for each camper.
  3. Choose your Drop-Off/Pick-Up location(s) and week(s) and
  4. Purchase add-on (if desired).
  5. Complete enrollment.
